Ruth Margaret Seiden

Ruth Margaret (Schmidt) Seiden Ruth was born in Queens - New York on October 6, 1928. She came to San Diego by bus with her family in 1940 when she was 12 years old. Ruth graduated from Hoover High School and attended San Diego State University, majoring in Art. While she went to school, she worked at a local market. She later worked as a secretary, taking shorthand at the Bank. Ruth met Ed on a tennis date (set up by Ed’s sister June) and they married May 2,1953. They bought a home in La Mesa and raised three children - Sandy, Ray and Lory. Ruth stayed active supporting her kids in all their endeavors. She loved her family and always made Birthday and Christmas celebrations special. Ruth was very talented and creative at oil painting, sewing, dancing and house projects. Ruth was a passionate painter. She entered two paintings in a La Mesa art contest and won first and second place. Like her mother Erna, she was an incredible sewer. Ruth sewed her children's school clothes, her daughter's wedding dresses, and even a small plane cover with a hand painted logo. Ruth had an adventurous spirit and a can-do attitude that was inspirational. She took summer camping vacations to Big Sur driving her Ford Fairlane station-wagon. The summer crew was Ruth, Hilda, Sandy, Ray, Lory, Tina, and Teddy. Ruth often spoke fondly of those days. When Ed retired, they traveled the world which included the Philippines and Europe. They also drove across the US in their Econoline Orange Van (lovingly called the Scooby-Doo Van). Ruth loved to have fun with her family and friends, she had a great sense of humor. In her later years, she joined a senior bowling league, had an amazing time playing Bingo, loved spending time with her Yorkie Max and enjoyed going to Lake Murray. She liked watching sports, especially the Padres. Recently, she said she would love to learn how to play golf. Ruth deeply cared about her family and friends. She had an amazing life journey, and touched so many lives along the way. We will miss you dearly, we love you with our hearts. Ruth is survived by: Son - Ray Seiden Daughter - Loretta (Seiden) Hill Son in Law - Jim Hill Grandchildren - Kenny Hill, Cherie Hill and Shayne McIntyre. Great Grandchildren - Banyan McIntyre and Coral McIntyre.
